It’s no secret that Archway depends on the compassion and generosity of you, our loyal supporters. We chatted with long-time Archway supporter David Bates to find out how, and why, he lends a hand to help us to tackle loneliness:

“I’ve known Archway for many years. When I saw an advert on the Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action (OCVA) jobs page for volunteers to help measure the impact of the work they do, I was interested to find out more.

I have personally experienced loneliness at various points in my life and found the experience made me feel quite isolated and vulnerable.”

“I also know how loneliness can distort your view of the world, and people so the work Archway does in helping those affected by loneliness to make and widen their social connections feels important. I've also worked in the Charitable sector for over 20 years supporting Charitable and Community groups in a range of ways. This has included helping groups make applications for funding but also working on behalf of funders gathering information on the impact their funding has had.”

“We each possess our own set of abilities, and resources we can draw on. They may be financial, the ability to listen well or the means to offer transport to enable someone to attend a group. Archway has a range of ways you can help…”

Many thanks to David for taking time to talk to us, and for his continued support for Archway.
