Archway Director and Volunteers got their hands dirty washing cars to raise funds for Archway. Dr Steve Harris (Archway volunteer) nominated Archway to Infineum Smile's charity of the year and initiated the car washing event. As a result the owners of the newly cleaned cars donated £100 which was matched by Infineum Smile raising a total of £200 for Archway.
The friends of Archway enjoyed an outing to Broughton Grounds Farm on Saturday July 2nd.
Broughton Grounds Farm is part of a project run by the organisation LEAF and the Sensory Trust to enable people who wouldn’t otherwise get an opportunity to visit a farm to visit and have a “sensory-rich experience”. The farm was recently featured on the BBC news and more information about the farm and the project including the BBC news video can be found on the website
This was an opportunity for those involved with Archway to exhibit their work. All the artwork in the exhibition was created by Friends, volunteers and staff of the Archway Foundation. Thanks to St. Columba's we were proud to be showing the creative and often hidden talents of those involved in Archway. The use of Art can be seen as an important tool for expression and release of sometimes challenging emotions and difficult times. Others used Art to express their enjoyment of positive life experiences or simply because they like creating things.
The open door of Archway meant that all could express, create and display without prejudice, judgement or negative critique. The act of getting involved and contributing to this event was a rewarding and positive experience for many.
